Annual Early Years Conference

This September we had the opportunity to present at the annual Early Years Conference in Liverpool city centre attended by teachers and practitioners from Liverpool schools. We presented a workshop titled “Outdoors in all Weathers” in which we discussed the ways in which we can follow a natural curriculum; observing the cycle of the seasons and utilising the natural materials and weather conditions available to us throughout the year to enhance creative play and learning opportunities in both outdoor and indoor environments.

The presentation took us through the four seasons, demonstrating the ways in which we can enhance provision both small and large scale by utilising simple resources and natural materials. We also showcased how our picturebooks and ideas books are tailored to fit in with our natural play philosophy; we created four small-scale displays for each of the seasons, incorporating our books and some ideas for simple resources that can be used alongside them….
